Postal Matches:  Rule Summary

Common to all disciplines:

  1. Four shooters per team, but it does not have to be the same 4 shooters each week.  You are free to pick your top four each week. 
  2. If you have eight shooters, you may have two teams, etc.
  3. Sample score cards are available on the ISRPA website.  Please include all of the appropriate information, including a phone number so that our scorekeeper can contact you if there is some question.

Smallbore Rifle-Indoor:

This competition follows the NRA 50’ indoor four position smallbore rifle rules (http://www.nrahq.org/compete/targetsbooks.asp).  Here is a rule summary:

  1. Use NRA target A-17. 
  2. Any sight may be used.  Shooting jackets, gloves, slings, and mats are allowed.  No rests are allowed.
  3. 3 minute prep period for each stage.
  4. 10 shots prone in 10 minutes.  Sling allowed.  One shot per bullseye.
  5. 10 shots sitting in 10 minutes.  Sling allowed.  One shot per bullseye.
  6. 10 shots kneeling in 10 minutes.  Sling allowed.  One shot per bullseye.
  7. 10 shots standing in 15 minutes.  NO Sling allowed.  One shot per bullseye.
  8. Unlimited sighters allowed, but they are included in your time.
  9. Scoring:  400 possible.  See center sighter bullseye on A-17 for ring designations.  Center 10-ring is roughly 0.2” in diameter.  Any shot which hits the 10 ring, but does not touch the 9 ring is considered an “X”.
  10. There is a sample score sheet for recording your scores on the ISRPA website.

 

Indoor Pistol:

This competition follows the NRA gallery bullseye rules (http://www.nrahq.org/compete/targetsbooks.asp).  Three courses of fire:  slow, timed, and rapid.  The rules are summarized below:

  1. Use NRA target “Pistol, 50-foot, Slow Fire, Standard American”I believe it is a “B?2”for slow fire.  NRA target “B-3” for timed and rapid fire.
  2. Any sights may be used.
  3. Shooters must use one hand, unsupported for all courses of fire.
  4. Slow Fire: 10 shots in 10 minutes.  There are no “X’s” on the slow fire target.
  5. Timed Fire: Total of 10 shots in two strings.  5 shots in 20 seconds for each string.
  6. Rapid Fire:  Total of 10 shots in two strings.  5 shots in 10 seconds for each string.
  7. Scoring:  300 possible.  Include X count for rapid and timed fire.  If you have an X-ring on your slow fire target, you are using the wrong target.

 

Rifle – JR

We will use the International course of fire for Jr. shooters.  (http://www.nrahq.org/compete/targetsbooks.asp)  This is three position shooting.  Otherwise, the rules are the same as smallbore rifle shown above.

  1. Use NRA target A-17.
